Sewing Project with and for My Guys!!

Another project completed---- Felt and needle artwork name banners are hung in my guys rooms (project started-- April, 2013).   We created our own frames from wood trimming pieces.  Dad gave us a Wood Shop 101 session on mitre cuts.  Don't they look suspicious!!  :^)

After Mom and Dad assembled the cut pieces, my guys chose their colors and painted their frames.

Inside, the guys cut out the letters of their names from felt and tried the needle artwork.  (Can't find these pics----aaargh.).  Here are the finished banners!!

~~~On to finishing the next sewing adventure~~~
Playin' Catch-Up---February 2010
Wow!! This was a busy month for our family! With the Blizzard of 2010, we celebrated our son's 6th birthday. His favorite character from the show Word World is Chef Pig. So, I made him and his brothers chef hats with aprons to bake cupcakes for his birthday.
Here is the birthday boy in having a ball!!
They were way excited. So much so, that we did not get to the actual baking. :^)
Instead, our sons performed the Chef Pig episodes with make-believe ingredients. It was great!!! No washing dishes after their performances. Worked for me!! :^)
Hello 2010!!!
Happy New Year......2010!!
Last year 2009 ended on a high-note for me!!
---- Completed home dec project (2 rooms); used decorative stitching as a finish to roman shades
---- Finished draperies & accent pillows for my hubby's 'Man Cave'
---- Gave away excess fabric that I've had for over 2 years. Found a wonderful program in Washington DC teaching youth basic sewing and design skills.
---- Found extra fabric to add volume to our living room draperies. (Background: original purchase made 3 years ago. Sourcing tip: if it is a chain, try the other locations before giving in!!)
---- Made a fabulous cocktail dress using Simplicity #
---- Finished 1 pair of jammy pants for my little soon to be big fellas (McCalls #)
---- Made fabulous Vogue # men's vest 'blind' (Background: ended up being too small for my dear hubby. Lesson learned-----ALWAYS measure your subject against the PATTERN.)
---- Used leftover 'scraps' for my 2009 Holiday ornament
Looking forward to 2010.....
---- make vest and pants to fit dear hubby :^)
---- finish altering dining room draperies
---- finish reorganizing sewing room
---- complete all cut and un-assembled projects (current count---9)
---- coordinate/host a community service sewing project
---- maintain monthly blog posting!!
I pray your holidays were filled with great joy and happiness. May your 2010 bring God's blessings and peace to you and your families.
They're Here....They're Here
OK---well they've been here for about 3 weeks now. Please forgive me. I am still trying to work out the right balance of homeschooling, maintaining our home, sewing projects and this blogsite. Here are some pics of my new label. I used them on some cloth napkins I made for my birthday tea party.
While I'm on the subject of my tea party, let me add a few things.....
1-----IT WAS GREAT!! We enjoyed afternoon tea at the Mandarin Oriental in Washington DC.
2-----The food was great
3-----.....setting fabulous
4-----......friends wonderful
5-----....a moment to remember PRICELESS!!
I just can figure out if I had more fun preparing for the tea or at the tea itself. The party bags were a take on Oprah's Favorite Things......on my purse. :^)
Included in the bags were: Diffuser Reed Bouquets from Pier1; Milk Chocolate ‘Jewels’ from Godiva; Tea Leaf Gift Tins from Michael’s; Loose Tea from Teavana; flower-shaped butter cookies from Whole Foods; Facial Wash (Check & Balance) from Origin’s; exfoliating bath soaps/salts --- Mandarin Oriental; cloth napkin--- Cre8ivNotionsbyMiriam; brown craft bags w/Gerber Daisy flower inserts from Michael’s.
There are a few things in life that makes you feel good all over. This day was defintely one of them. I am still smiling about this day. Thank you God. Thanks to my Diva friends for being a part of that moment!
